TODAY, I thought I would tell you about my Antique Armoire.
I LOVE IT ! ! !
Well, I came in from work one afternoon, and my neighbor, Holly McClanahan, was having a yard sale. I couldn't believe it, . . . there sat this BEAUTIFUL Antique Armoire!
I was so excited, I just knew someone else was going to buy it before I could get out there and look it over.
Garry usually gets home about the same time I do, so I was anxiously waiting for him to get there.
When he arrived, we headed over to Holly's hoping the Armoire was "For Sale" and that no one else had already bought it!
WELL, . . . THEY HADN'T, . . . and I DID ! ! !
Now, I hope I am telling this Story right, and if not, someone feel free to jump right in there, and correct me. I would love for anyone knowing more about this than I do, to leave a comment and let us all know a little more!
This Armoire is so old, it comes apart in pieces. It is my understanding, that it was, in its earlier life, taken apart and loaded on a covered wagon and moved from place to place ? ! ? ! ?
SO, . . . after we bought it, we now have to decide how we are going to get it into our house. Do we tear it down to move it, or do we move it as one piece?
Well, . . . Garry knowing he is the one that is going to have to put it back together if we tear it apart, decides we will move it as one piece.
SO, . . . with the help of a dolly and 3 WOMEN, ? ! ? ! ? , Garry gets it into the front room of our house!
Now, it was time to try to get it into one of the back bedrooms.
This thing is BIG!
We made it through the Dining Room, the Kitchen, down the back Hallway, ready to go into the bedroom, and, . . . there was no way it was going in there in one piece!
So, now we have no choice but to take it apart ! ! !
Anyway, to make a long story short, . . . we got it in the room, and Garry put it back together. I decided after awhile it was to BIG for that room, . . . SO, Garry took it apart, moved it upstairs, and put it back together! We bought a new Quilting Machine, . . . SO, Garry had to take it apart, move it out of my Sewing Room, back downstairs, and into my new Fabric Room, . . . and finally, put it back together! (BELIEVE ME, . . . if Garry has his way, it will be here for a lllloooonnnngggg time!)
I took a few pictures of Garry putting it back together and I wanted to share them with you ~
The armoire is held together by only 4 bolt type things that screw into the wood. Two on the top and two on the bottom. Everything has a little groove that it fits down in, and then it is all tightened up with the four screws.
Now here's the tricky part ~ keeping everything lined up and screwing the top down enough to keep it from falling apart, but not to tight so that you can put the doors on!
and, finally the doors ~
WOW! Thank goodness it's back together one more time!
THANK YOU, GARRY ! ~ I LOVE IT ! ! !
HAVE A GREAT DAY !
