I have been trying some New Recipes lately.

Some have been alright but not good enough to write about

BUT , . . .

this one is DELICIOUS ! ! !

I can definitely recommend it!

Here's the Recipe!

Ready for the oven!

I rolled mine about the size of a ping pong ball and the Recipe

made 34 Cookies.

 

I know there is one missing and the Recipe said to

let them cool before you take them out of the pan,

BUT . . .

I couldn't wait!

I had one cup of Coffee left over from Breakfast this morning.

OH MY, . . . THEY ARE SO GOOD ! ! !

I couldn't stand it . . .

I just had to Piece another

"Disappearing 9-Patch" Quilt!

 

I have had this Layer Cake for a long time.

It was one of the Collections I carried in My Shoppe

but I never had time to Piece a Quilt out of it.

I love the Prints so I wanted to use a Pattern that

would show off the Fabric.

The blocks are Pieced and ready to layout tomorrow!

I finished the Quilt this Morning ~

I got to spend the entire morning listening to David Nevue on the piano - Beautiful,

and Piecing a Quilt!

Two of my most favorite things to do!!!

This Fabric reminds me of my Dad.

I was raised on our Farm 5 miles North of Olton Tx.

I couldn't help but think about so many

Precious Memories I have with my Dad.

I Loved working with him!

Disappearing 9-Patch Quilt

made out of a Layer Cake and a little extra yardage.

I'm using the "Vin du Jour" Fabric Collection

by 3 Sisters ~

 

I am trying to get ideas together for decorating

"The Feathered Nest"!

These are the colors I will be using.

Light fixtures are being put in today along with finishing up Painting.

I'll hopefully have pictures of the progress tomorrow.

If you have an extra Layer Cake laying around that you haven't known

what to do with it,

pull it out and I'll show you step by step how

to Piece this Quilt.

So Quick and Easy!

You can complete it in one day.

We will be using 36 of the 42 pieces in the Layer Cake.

Pick out your favorites and separate them into 4 sets of 9 pieces.

Take each set of 9 pieces and lay them out to make a 9-patch Block.

Take the 4 Pieces that are your favorites

and put them in the outside corners,

they will not be cut throughout the process and will show up pretty in the Quilt.

Sew the 3 pieces together in the top, middle and bottom rows ~

 

Press each row of seams in opposite direction ~

You're ready to sew your rows together to finish the 9-patch block.

Nest your seams together going in opposite directions,

Pin and Sew ~

Everything should match up perfectly!

and the back of the block ~

Piece the remaining 3 Blocks the same way.

You now have 4

9-Patch Blocks ~

You want to cut them in half both ways.

Half of my center blocks measures 4 3/4".

Measure yours just in case your seam widths are different from mine.

You will now have your 16 Blocks ~

You can either lay out your Quilt as a

3 Blocks across and 4 Blocks down

with one extra block,

or

you can lay it out square using all 16 Blocks.

4 blocks across and 4 blocks down.

I usually go with the 15 Block

but today I am going to make it Square

and use all of the Blocks.

You will now sew your Blocks together into Rows

and then sew your Rows together.

(you will press your seams in opposite directions again so that the

seams will nest together perfectly)

Work to get this far and then we will attach the Borders!

These are the 2 fabrics I decided to use for my Borders ~

The purple will be the inside border and the Print will be the on the outside.

If you made the 16 Block Quilt you will need to cut

6 - 2 1/2" strips - inside border

and

7 - 6" strips - outside border

(the 15 block quilt will probably use the same number of cuts)

Attach your Borders and you are Finished!

Ready to be Quilted!

Enjoying a Beautiful Fall Sunday Afternoon ! ! !

I Love Fall!

What could be better than Football, Napping and

Homemade Soup with Cornbread ? ? ?

Pepper Soup is a Quick and Easy

meal to prepare!

Just a few ingredients I try to keep on hand for days like today.

Pepper Soup

1 lb ground beef - (I cooked mine in the Crock Pot before I added the other ingredients)

1 can Ranch Style Beans

1 can Rotel

1 can stewed tomatoes

2 cans Minestrone Soup

2 cans water

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp pepper

( *sometimes I add a can of corn just because I like it)

Brown ground beef, drain, then add remaining ingredients.  Cook until bubbly.  The longer it cooks the better the flavor.

Enjoy!

 

I like to make Cornbread from scratch

but on days like today when I'm feeling lazy,

I always fall back on the next best thing ~

Jiffy Cornbread!

"A Feathered Nest"

is coming right along!

Caulking has been done and the first coat of paint

is on the walls and ceilings in the den and bedroom.

I am Loving the color - "Universal Khaki"!

Some work has started in the yard.

We always hate to take out trees,

but one was way to close to the foundation and the front porch.

The other one was dying.

We'll plant more trees to the front yard later.

The shrubs on the side of the property were way over grown.

We have started trimming them up.

The metal carport will be coming down too!

We have a good start on them but still have more work to do.

They were so overgrown you could not use the driveway.

Slowly but surely it is coming around!

We Had a Great Weekend . . .

with two more of our Grandsons!

He is one great 6th Grade Athlete and he loves the game!

We got to keep the boys in Amarillo this weekend and

Our Fredericksburg Grandsons ~

~ Meet Johnny - 3 years old and Charlie - 9 months old ~

Charlie and I had been pulling Johnny around the yard in the wagon.

After about 10 minutes of that fun,

Johnny decided he needed to pull Charlie and I around.

? ? ? ? ?

 

If was definitely a trick trying to get in the wagon

especially holding a little one . . .

but we did it!

When Garry shows up,

Johnny thinks Papa needs to pull all 3 of us!

We're overflowing with FUN!

Peanut Butter Cookies ~

These were one of my Favorite Cookies growing up!

I don't bake them a lot now

because . . .

I could eat the Whole Batch!

I LOVE THEM ! ! !

 

I will usually almost burn one pan full

just because I like them that way ~

SUPER CRUNCHY with a little bit of a Burnt Taste!

 

PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES

(My Mother's Recipe!)

1/2 cup Shortening

1/2 cup Peanut Butter

1/2 cup Sugar

1/2 cup Brown Sugar

1 Egg

1 1/4 cup Flour

3/4 tsp Soda

1/2 tsp Baking Powder

1/4 tsp salt

Mix wet ingredients together.  Combine dry ingredients together in a separate bowl.  Combine and mix the wet and dry ingredients together.

Bake at 375 degrees for 12 minutes

 

  Ingredients ~

 Combine sugar, brown sugar, eggs, peanut butter and shortening ~

 Combine dry ingredients in a separate bowl ~

 Add the dry ingredients to the wet and mix well ~

Ready for the pan ~

Drop a spoonful of dough in to the pan

and press the dough down

using a fork in a criss-cross pattern ~

Bake 12 minutes in a 375 degree oven ~

Deviled Eggs ~

 I know this sounds CRAZY

but . . .

I have been searching Pinterest to try and figure out the best way to Boil Eggs

so they will peel easily without tearing up the egg.

Garry doesn't like boiled eggs so I have just never made them since we married.

I absolutely LOVE Deviled Eggs!

When I was growing up, mother would make them every once in a while

for family get togethers

and they were always SO GOOD!

I have never tasted anybody's quite as good as I remember hers being.

So, after several tries with little success,

I finally got it figured out!

It's so easy!

Simply bring a  pan of water to a rolling boil ~

Add as many eggs as will fit in your pan

and bring to a second boil ~

When they come to a good boil,

put a lid on the pan,

and turn the heat as low as it will go ~

Now, set the timer for 12 minutes and let them cook slowly.

When the time is up,

drain off the hot water and fill the pan with cold water

and a hand full of ice ~

Let it set for 10 minutes.

Now, they are ready to peel - PERFECT!

Cut in half ~

and Dump out the yolk ~

There are a couple of different recipes I like to use,

but today I wanted a sweet taste so I am adding

Mayonnaise, Mustard, Sweet Pickle Relish and Salt.
