CALGARY ALBERTA CANADA ~ (continued)

 
We headed back to Calgary on Friday, and saw more Beautiful Scenery ~

Just on the West edge of the Calgary, we came up on the site of the 1988 Winter Olympic Games.  I grabbed my camera as fast as I could and snapped a few  shots.

 
We read up on this and found out that they are still using this site for a training facility and have plans to expand.

Driving into the City Limits ~

 
We stayed in the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Calgary ~

 

We went walking around the downtown area and I took these pictures ~

 

 

 

Another reason we were walking around the downtown area is because we were heading to

The Calgary Tower ~

The tower is 525 feet high to the observation floor.

 

It was used in the 1988 Winter Olympic Games.  Throughout the games a flame burned at the top of the Tower making the Calgary Tower the World's Tallest Olympic Torch.

The torch is still lite today for special occasions.

 

The Observation Deck is 36 feet long and is 4 feet wide.  You can step out onto the glass floor and see straight down.  It is capable of holding up a couple of Hippos.

Okay, I said all of that and now will let you know that I kept my feet on the ground.

Garry was much more adventurous and went to the top.

It was plenty good for me just hearing about it ! ! !

We headed back home on Sunday ~

 

We had a Great Time, but it sure felt good to be back in the

United States!

BANFF AND LAKE LOUISE, ALBERTA, CANADA ~ (continued)

 When we crossed over into Canada, we saw so many Beautiful Homesteads ~

and everyone of them had at least one old Barn and many places had several ~

There were also Old Wood Grain Elevators in every town ~ 

 

 

We traveled to Banff National Park to stay a couple of days before we had to be in Calgary for the Banquet.

Everything we saw was so Beautiful!

I would see something that I just had to get a picture of and about the time I would get my camera put up, I would need it again!

WOW!  It is Huge and absolutely amazing!

We drove around the area and ran across, . . .

 these Elk were right on the side of the road on our way to the Golf Course ~

We took off one afternoon and drove about 35 miles further into the Park ~

to see Lake Louise ~

 

IT WAS BEAUTIFUL AND COLD!

We ate at Evelyn's Coffee Bar a couple of mornings ~

 It was the Cutest Place and everything was DELICIOUS!

CALGARY AND BANFF CANADA ~

Well, I have been out of pocket for the last couple of weeks ~

 
 Garry and I drove to Canada for his 30 Years of Service Recognition Banquet with

 TransCanada Corporation.

WOW, . . .  IT IS AN AMAZING BUILDING ! ! !

I don't like to fly, so we drove 3238 miles to get there and back.

It really wasn't as bad as it sounds.  We took 3 days to drive up there, relaxed and went sight seeing for 4 days, and then took 3 days to drive back home.

We averaged 500 to 600 miles each day.

We left Canadian TX on Sunday morning and drove to Fort Collins, CO ~

 

Fort Collins was Beautiful!

The City is landscaped with trees everywhere.  You can't see the businesses for all of the trees.
We were so impressed with how Clean and Neat everything was. 

That was our first STOP!

Next, we headed up through Wyoming ~

 

We traveled through miles and miles of open range.  It was amazing to see so much land that is still untouched!

We were running a little ahead of time and needed to stretch our legs, so we stopped in Buffalo, WY.

 

 This sign tells it all, . . . need I say more, . . . YES, . . . I made some purchases!  I will show you my new Treasures later!

While we were walking through the town, we came across the Occidental Hotel ~

 

 

We decided to go in and check it out ~

 

 We went upstairs and Hit The Jackpot, . . .  Antique Quilts lined the hallways!

 

 
 

 

 

 

 All of these Quilts were from the late 1800's.  Those are just a few of the many displayed.

 
There is a lot of interesting history associated with this Hotel.  It is Huge!  I have tons more pictures, but I better move on.

Northern Wyoming was Beautiful ~

We crossed the State Line and headed into Montana ~

There were Beautiful Crops everywhere!

It is our understanding that the crops are mainly rye, wheat, barely,  oats, and alfalfa.

 
 
 
 
 
 

 The whole state was ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!  We loved it!

We got up early Tuesday morning and headed for Lethbridge Canada.  We were on a 4 lane highway the rest of the way and there was very little traffic.

I began to get a little nervous when I saw this ~

  

 
 

They questioned us and we made it through fine!
